and main shopping street (mere street) are also located by the marketplace. shopping in diss the array of shops in diss is interesting and the delicate courtyards of cobbs courtyard, norfolk house and hales and wills courtyard provide a wonderful array of shops awaiting to be browsed. food lovers will enjoy the specialist shops within these courtyards especially fredrick fine foods and the children will adore "the sweet shop" in norfolk house courtyard. througout the town their are some fantastic coffee shops to sit down with friends to chat, or just let the world go by, these being mere moments in mere street along with the coffee shop in diss publishing shop where you can overlook the diss mere over a tea or coffee and just take in the magnificent naturally beautiful landscape of diss. where to eat in diss diss and the surrounding area have an array of delicious places to eat along with a number of talented and dedicated chefs within the area. one place that has never, as yet disappointed me for food is burston crown pub about 2 miles out of the centre of the town. there is also roydon white hart about 1.5 miles out of the centre of town run by a paul meredew with chef alan lunn, who on every occsasion he has cooked for me has been top class. if you are looking for a place to fine dine then you need to look at fayre view run by chef chris gissing, the food is superb from start to finish and the fresh crab starter i had was sourced locally from cromer and so tasty. we also must not forget the local indian restaurant spice cottage , the guys there make you feel so welcome wether you are sitting in the light restaurant or just ordering a take away from them. there food is always very fresh and full of flavour and there personal service always makes an evening so much more pleasant. if you want to go out and have a chinese of an evening then you have come to the right place at happy palace in diss, neal makes everybody very welcome from philip schofield to all the local people within the area, somehow he seems to remeber everybodies names, but thats a sign of a good host. in 2011 diss also had a turkish restaurant called turkuaz open in the town, between tesco's and morrisons. the restaurant is run by yusef karakus and turan cilfaoglu who also own two of the local takeaway establishments pizza plus and istanbul kebab house . their restaurant has had
